Hi Everyone,

I want to let you all know what a fabulous job this week. We had two great races and some amazing results in some very hot hot weather.

First of all, Congrats for stepping up and winning both the boys and girls pre-region 2 race. Kevin Martin and Sierra Chowen both were winners in their races. Nice!! You both as individual race winners and as a team have a target on your backs. It is nice to be out front this early in the season. We want to keep training hard so we put our stamp down as the team to beat. It was a hilly course. Much different than our past years with Region 1, but a course that will prepare us well for the State course. Which leads me into my next segment.

What a great time Friday huh? Once again in extremely HOT weather you all ran well and left it on the course. That course had all the hills of the State course and is not much different then what some of you will be running in October.

We as coaches, chose that course so everyone on the team was able to get a feel for what State is like. I hope you all enjoyed the experience. Congrats to the girls JV squad for running to a 2nd place finish. Kim Bradley and Sarah Cummings were able to receive 6th and 11th place ribbons in leading the way. Way to go!!

In Varsity the girls ended up 4th by a single point, and finshed as the 2nd team in 5A. Congrats to Sierra Chowen for an 11th place finish and a medal. Also, Heather, Amber, Brittney, and Ashley for rounding out our points. We are becoming a very solid girls team and are becoming confident as we race. Props to Abbey R for gutting it out with very sore knees, and to Molli L for racing Varsity at the last minute and giving a nice effort. The ladies could not achieve these result without the hard work, effort, and pushing of the rest of the team. You are all a vital cog in this racing machine we call Viewmont XC. Be proud of your efforts.

On the boys side we had a spectacular performance by Kevin Martin. Kevin broke 16 minutes and set a huge PR on his way to taking 2nd place overall!! Drew Linton also finished in the medals by receiving an 11th place finish. Their hard work over the summer is paying dividends for them. We are starting to have a real battle for spots 4-8 on the boys team. This will only make us stronger as the season progresses. Alot of you are continuing to drop your times in each race and your enthusiasm is contagious. Keep it up. As a boys team we are still trying to find ourselves. Be patient. Work hard.
