First of all this blog does not like me. I had words and congrats and all kinds of cool stuff typed and wrapped around the pictures on the previous posting. So i'll do it all again. Sigh!! Lida, you need to coach me on the finer points of blogging.

Congrats to all you Viewmont Vikings on being Region II Champs. It has been 15 years since we last won a title. Sure feels good...
Props to you all for working your tails off all year long and showing the heart of a lion in winning the XC Titles. You all showed determination, mental toughness and passion in racing to these victories. We as coaches could not be more proud of your desire to go out and run fantastic races. You all BROUGHT IT!!!
First off Congrats to Kevin Martin and Sierra Chowen for winning the Individual titles in the varsity races. All year long they have been our leaders and both deserve the "W"
The other medalists in the boys were Drew Linton in 4th and Tanner Luke in 9th. Completing the scoring for the boys were sophmores Daniel Starr and Ty Hadley finishing 12th and 19th.
For the ladies, medals went to lizzy Rasmussen 2nd, Ashley Roylance 4th and Brittany Barrett 9th. Amber Carr finished in 13th place as our final scorer.
Besides winning both varsity races, we showed a glimpse of the future with the jv teams dominating the competition. In fact, the jv girls finished 1 thru 10 in achieving the lowest score possible of 25. Congrats to Laura Nance for for coming out of nowhere and winning the race. She edged teammate Sarah Cummings by 4/10's of a second. That's a photo finish after 3 miles. Wow!! Those two were followed by Sam Pead, Kim Bradley, Kelsey Layton, Liz Crowley, Maria Smith, Katrina Burgoyne, Amanda Carr and Anndi Johnson.
In the boys race Mason Sutton edged Ryan Freeman in going 1st and 2nd. Tanner Howell finished 4th and Jordan Buchanan finished 9th.
We could not have achieved our team goal as region champions without a full effort from the rest of the team. 1 thru 70. Each week you competed and pushed and cheered on each other in an effort to get the best out of each and everyone of you. For that we commend you. This ride isn't over yet. We now prepare for the State Championships on Oct 19th. All of us, 1 thru 70, are expected at practice Monday. We need to continue to push each other beyond the level of endurance to achieve or State goals. Once again, Congratulations on great racing in the region meet. We have now started a new Tradition of Excellence at Viewmont High. We want to take this feeling and move forward with enthusiasm in reaching new levels of success. Wear the maroon and gold proudly. Understand you are the building blocks of a new dynasty in Viewmont XC. Props to you all.
